Privacy Policy

This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their ‘Personally Identifiable Information’ (PII) is being used online. PII, as described in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context. Please read our privacy policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with our website.

What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?

When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, email address or other details to help you with your experience.

When do we collect information?

We collect information from you when you register on our site or enter information on our site.

How do we use your information?

We may use the information we collect from you when you register, make a purchase, sign up for our newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features to personalize your experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested.

Data deletion request

You may request data deletion by visiting your account settings page, or providing your account details in an email to contact@watchcharts.com, with the subject line “Data Deletion Request”. Records we keep for security and abuse prevention, such as API and AI-assistant request logs, are retained after account deletion.

Do we use cookies?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser settings. Since every browser is a little different, look at your browser’s Help Menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies.

Disabling cookies

If you turn cookies off, some of the features that make your site experience more efficient may not function properly.

WatchCharts Chrome Extension

When you choose to scan a page, the extension sends that page’s content to WatchCharts so we can find the watches listed and show you their prices. It never reads pages in the background. We keep a record of your scans to run and improve the service, and we may use trusted service providers, including AI providers, to process them. We don’t sell this data or use it for advertising.

AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude and others)

You can connect your WatchCharts account to an AI assistant at watchcharts.com/mcp. When you do:

  • What we receive: your WatchCharts sign-in, and the lookups your assistant requests (for example a brand and reference number). We do not receive your conversations with the assistant.
  • What we store and why: an access grant for each connected assistant, so it stays signed in, and a log of each lookup (your account ID, the data requested, the time and the data credits used). We use the log to meter data credits, to show your usage history at watchcharts.com/api/usage, to improve our service, and to detect and investigate abuse of our data and services.
  • Who receives it: the assistant you connected receives the watch data it requested, under that provider’s own privacy policy. Our hosting providers process it to run the service. We do not sell it.
  • How long we keep it: access grants expire after 90 days without use and end when you disconnect the assistant; temporary session data is deleted after 72 hours without use. Lookup logs are kept indefinitely, including after you delete your account, so we can audit past use for abuse and security, and to improve our service.
  • Your controls: disconnect any assistant at watchcharts.com/mcp, and review your lookups at watchcharts.com/api/usage.

Third-party disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personally Identifiable Information unless we provide users with advance notice. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or serving our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release information when its release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property or safety. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Third-party links

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third-party products or services on our website. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

We, along with third-party vendors such as Google use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) or other third-party identifiers together to compile data regarding user interactions with ad impressions and other ad service functions as they relate to our website.
